Memorial sponsors or participates in many different missions and ministries that can fulfill your desire to serve "the least of these" in the name of our Lord.

  • Angel Tree

    Angel Tree Christmas, a program of Prison Fellowship, works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. Our church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the Gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent.

  • Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)

    Members of Memorial are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable goods to church which are shared with AFAC each month. AFAC distributes groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.

  • Arlington Street People Assistance Network (ASPAN)

    Helping the Homeless in Arlington

    Members and friends of Memorial prepare 80 meals for Arlington's homeless once a month. Our cooking team can always use some extra hands to help prepare and serve the meals, which takes only a few hours each month. The hot meals are prepared on a Sunday afternoon, and delivered directly to homeless and needy people at two locations in our community.

    Members of Memorial support the mission of Doorways, which strives to end homelessness and family and intimate partner violence by offering safe shelter and housing, life changing support services and community advocacy.

  • Kentucky Mountain Mission Team

    Kentucky Mountain Mission Team is a group of ladies that meet the needs of three classes of sixth grade students of Owsley county elementary school in Kentucky. This area of Kentucky is financially depressed and the students are in need of very basic necessities.

    Our partnership project is part of Kentucky Baptists Mountain Hope initiative.

    The Kentucky Mountain Mission Team meets meet once a month on the fourth Thursday at 11:00am in the Fellowship Hall of the church. They bring their own bag lunch and work on an outreach mission project. Each month after consulting with teachers at the school, the mission team ship items such as school and personal hygiene supplies and specific clothing needs.

    We welcome anyone who would like to join the Kentucky Mountain Mission Team for fellowship, fun, and to participate in our mission project! Please contact for further information.

  • Meals on Wheels (MOW)

    Members of Memorial participate in this program providing meals to homebound individuals in Arlington County. While volunteers are needed in a variety of roles, the need for drivers is MOW's most pressing need.

  • Outreach Ministries

    The Outreach Ministries Team leads others to be on mission with God to bring the members and friends of Memorial, our community, state, and world to the saving grace of Jesus Christ is a primary purpose of the Work Team at Memorial. It plans, develops and coordinates, oversees and performs mission activities.

    On a broad scale, the Team coordinates activities with the Baptist World Alliance, the Virginia Baptist Resource Center, Virginia Baptist Mission Board, International Mission Board, and other local, state and international mission organizations. The Missions Commission works in the areas of home, state and foreign missions to support and coordinate mission awareness.

  • Patient Compassionate Sitters

    Memorial Baptist Church has agreed with to work with the Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) in showing compassion to the dying. Rev. Graham Bardsley, VHC's chaplain, believes that "No one should die alone" and we agree.

    Each volunteer would be asked to volunteer for a specific time slot, convenient to their individual schedule and appropriate training is scheduled for the end of February. So if you are interested, please indicate so on the sign-up sheet located outside the Church Office or contact .

  • Recycling

    Memorial is taking steps to be better stewards of our environment and its resources and to help our congregation take steps as well. We participate with Asset Solutions by recycling batteries, computer parts, cell phones, electronic equipment and much more. We also actively participate in our county-wide curbside recycling program.

  • Transformers

    Transformers is a Virginia Baptist ministry in which believers come together for three days each June to rehabilitate housing in economically depressed regions of the commonwealth. Despite our moderate size, Memorial usually sends the largest contingent of workers each year. Whether you're a skilled handyman or handywoman, or just want to help carry tools and materials, this ministry has proven to be extremely rewarding for participants and recipients alike.
